ACC Staff Spotlight: Tia Le

ACC IT Technician Tia LeIn the mid 1990s Tia and her family migrated here from Vietnam. She had the opportunity to take classes at ACC and graduated with an associate’s degree in computer information systems.  Tia has enjoyed this profession so much that she has already completed 15 years of service.

The best things about being a part of the ACC community is helping students, instructors, and staff, said Tia. “I love assisting them with their technology needs!” Tia prides herself in helping her colleagues find efficient solutions to their work requests, and she enjoys the wide array of destinations – and challenges – that any given day may bring.

Tia lets others know that ACC is a place that allows you to begin your college adventures that would help you to be successful in life. “I feel honored to have been a student and very happy to be an employee at ACC. I feel my contribution is well received,” said Tia.

Coming from a different culture, ACC gave her the opportunity to improve upon her communication skills. ACC also helped with education costs through the grant program. She values ACC as a place to develop relationships with students, colleagues, and the community to make this her new home. Tia is ACC!

ACC Staff Spotlight: Tim Eberly

ACC IT Technician Tim EberlyTim came to school here in 2010 after losing his job. He wanted to learn something that could translate into a new career, with a new direction. His first stop, an ACC internship, then non-student hourly employee, next contract work, and finally transitioned into fulltime employment. He has been full-time now for 3 years as an Information technology Technician.

When asked about what he liked best about being a part of the ACC community, Tim replied, “It is my Community College in that I live in this community, I went to school here and I am now a part of the “community” as a whole.” He believes we are here to serve, all that choose to come here, a quality education or a quality place to work. ACC is Tim’s community.

Three most valuable benefits Tim has received from ACC: an education, a career, and a group of new friends to work with. He would highly recommend ACC if someone is in need and looking for the offerings that ACC can provide. Adding that it may not be for everyone but for those that choose ACC and take advantage of what is offered, there can be a world of opportunity.

Tim Eberly was voted as ACC’s 2016-17 Classified Employee of the Year. He will continue to Move Mountains each and every day!

As you begin a new semester at ACC, you may have some questions about our technology on and off campus. We’ve prepared a list of tips, instructions and contact information to help you get off to a great start and ready to Move Mountains!Wireless Access instructions

Wireless Printing

Contact IT to get instructions for Printing from Wireless Network for more information on how you can submit simple print jobs to a select group of printers on campus. Please also note that print quotas will be reset by the start of Spring semester. Other information on quotas may be found in the student handbook.

Office 365 Install on Personal Computer

All ACC students are eligible to install Microsoft Office 365 on a personal laptop or desktop they own. To access and install Office 365 navigate your web browser to the ACC portal and log on. Click on the “Student tab” and look for an area with links to installing Office 365. This is a great suite of applications to use as you work through your studies at ACC.

Email Spam & Phishing – Being Vigilant

  • Students are hit with Spam and Phishing messages every day. New messages are deceptive and are getting craftier by the second. When in doubt, verify you were expecting an attachment before opening by contacting the person that sent the message. It is not uncommon to see phishing emails include legitimate signatures of people you know in an effort to get you to open the message.
  • Know that IT will NEVER ask you to click on a link and provide us with your personal information when you interact with us.
  • When in doubt please ask. Our campus community does a great job of identifying dangerous spam. It’s an effort that requires everyone.
